The north, west and Hebrides are full of inspirational landscapes, breathtaking beauty, unusual geomorphology and spectacular coastlines. They’re home to a wide range of native flora and fauna, with rich machair colours, vivid lichen, purple heather, and textured cliffs.
It is home to many artists - all of whom find varied inspiration in their glorious and ever-changing surroundings. From traditional crofting life to sweeping beaches, majestic cliffs and iconic machair, it truly is an artist’s paradise.

Why study with us
Our studios consist of spacious, open-plan areas within which students are allocated a personal workstation, with wall space and plenty of natural light. We have a store of hand and power tools for student use on request. Students have full access to the studio’s library of art books and UHI e-library, as well as access to other electronic resources such as journals, papers and e-books.
Our studios are equipped with desktop computers and several student laptops, which connect to our WIFI and LaserJet printer and scanner/photocopier. All devices are installed with the latest Microsoft and Adobe CC software. We have a suite of computers with Adobe Creative Cloud, available for students to book and use for digital-based classes.
