Gaelic for Work Purposes
These courses are suitable for beginners and post-beginners. Students will be given the opportunity to develop basic skills needed to communicate in everyday, vocational and professional contexts. Course materials are available online and students can also attend a weekly online tutorial.
This course can also be delivered for businesses looking to provide training for staff. It can be delivered as a tutor-led taught course, or students may work independently through the course at their own pace.

Sgilean Cànain/Gaelic for Fluent Speakers
Grammar is unavoidable – we use it every time we speak or write, even in the simplest of sentences. If the thought of writing an email, or a report in Gaelic fills you with uncertainty – then fear not, this course will help you understand the rules of Gaelic spelling and syntax. This course is aimed at fluent speakers, or an advanced learners who wish to improve their Gaelic literacy skills.

Gaelic Conversation – Intermediate
This course offers the opportunity to converse in Gaelic about everyday matters with an experienced tutor. It is especially suitable for intermediate-level learners.

Supernatural Folklore
Have you ever wanted to know more about the other world, a supernatural realm that was very real to our ancestors? Come with us on this journey through the veil that separates us from a dimension populated by ghosts, witches, fairies and other shadowy beings. Together, we will explore the beliefs, customs and superstitions associated with the supernatural world of the Gaels.

Ulpan Gaelic Language Classes
Ulpan 1 – 24 (Beginner) and Ulpan 25 – 48 (Post-Beginner)
Ulpan is a highly interactive method of language learning in which learners are introduced to language structures via language drills backed-up by consolidatory games and exercises. Ulpan is delivered in a block of 24 lessons with two 1.5hr lessons each week. This course is SQA accredited.

Home to the Hebrides
Have you recently moved to the Outer Hebrides? Perhaps you are planning a visit in the near future, or maybe you even run a tourism-related business here. If so, we have got the perfect course for you to learn about everything that makes these islands so special.
Home to the Hebrides offers students an introduction to basic Gaelic, and to the history, literature and folklore of these islands, as well as an overview of life in the contemporary Outer Hebrides.
All course materials will be available online, and regular tutorial support is available to students, also wholly online. You can work through materials at your own pace, fitting it around your other commitments.

Treanadh Oidean/Gaelic Tutor Training
Students on this course will receive information regarding education theory particularly in relation to language learning; lesson planning and reflection in teaching practice. Students will also undertake a series of practical activities relating to these topics. The course will also include instruction on Gaelic grammar points which students may find useful in their own teaching. Students will produce a lesson plan and will in Week 5 deliver a short lesson based on that plan.

Scottish Placenames
This course will study the place names of Scotland, exploring the different languages used to describe our landscape, and what they tell us about history as well as geography.
