Learner Support
A wide variety of people come to college and during their time here some may benefit from study support. This support may be needed in the short or long term for a variety of reasons, such as an injury, a mental health issue, a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia, a hearing, visual or physical impairment, or a medical condition.
Specific study support can include:
- Regular support meetings
- Appropriate specific study strategies
- 1:1 support sessions with a member of staff
- Proof reading
- Alternative assessment arrangements
- Identifying appropriate assistive technology
- Training in using assistive technology
- Dyslexia Sticker Scheme (HE only)
- Help to access financial support, Disabled Students Allowance (HE only)
Assistive technology
Assistive technology is equipment or software that assists with the removal of barriers students may face during their time in college as a result of a disability or difficulty. We have access to technology such as reading pens, alternative keyboards and mice, digital voice recorders and assistive software. During a needs assessment interview our support team can discuss these options with you and advise if any are appropriate for you. If you have any concerns or queries relating to support issues please do not hesitate to contact the Student Support Team.
