content

Project Officer

Kendra joined CRTR in April 2021 and has since worked on a wide range of projects funded through ERASMUS+, Northern Periphery and Arctic programmes, Arctic Connections and Knowledge Exchange programmes.

Specialisms and Interests

Kendra has a particular interest in community and regenerative tourism, focusing on the potential for tourism to make things better. Her work at the centre has often included collaborative elements involving contributions from the community or environmental considerations. She also enjoys an innovative twist to a project and is keen to incorporate digital technologies such as AI, 360° filming and Virtual Reality.

Background

Before working at CRTR Kendra worked on a community-driven heritage project to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Flodden. This was a hugely successful project with around 90 different community events/projects encouraged across the disperse geography of the Scottish and English borders. She has also mapped the land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) carbon footprint for the Highland Council, and helped householders in Lochaber lower their carbon footprints through a Climate Challenge Fund project.

She has conducted research for community development plans for rural communities and other community engagement projects. A keen believer in the power of community, Kendra is chair of her local Parent Council and has been a director for her village hall, chair of the community council, secretary of the local preschool group and chair of a local SCIO.
