What is special about this course?

The Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF level 6 allows candidates to demonstrate competence in job related skills in their particular area of work. This qualification has been designed in partnership with the Sector Skills Council, Skills for Care and Development to ensure relevance to the sector.
 

This course will develop the skills and knowledge you have gained working in a care setting.

  • It is a recognised qualification in the sector
  • You will undertake this qualification in your place of employment
  •  You will gain experience and knowledge of presenting written evidence in a portfolio

Entry requirements

To study for this qualification, you must be working in a paid or voluntary post within health and social care.

  • Support Effective Communication
  • Support the Health and Safety of Yourself and Individuals
  • Develop your Own knowledge and Practice.
  • Support the Safeguarding of individuals

Candidates will also be assessed in their workplace or placement across all units using a variety of assessment methods.

What can I do on completion of my course?

This SVQ is suitable for individuals who are currently in employment and who wish to obtain a formal qualification.

Candidates can progress to other appropriate SVQs up to and including level 4. The progression route for each candidate will depend on their job role and level of responsibility.
