I’ve always been interested in fabrication and welding. This course on my doorstep in Thurso is perfect for me. The set up in the workshops is bang on. The layout is great, and it's got everything that is required for doing the tasks – good welding equipment, pillar drills, brake press, guillotine and so on.  I am enjoying the practical work and the online work with OneFile that comes with each section. For practical tasks, we follow out the task in the workshop and then upload photographic evidence along with training records, risk assessments etc. We also cover H&S in the industry, different welding processes, general fabrication, the equipment etc.

When I finish the course, employers come in to meet you and companies like Dounreay, JGC Engineering and Technical Services Ltd, Gows of Lybster, M Mackay Engineering Services Ltd. might take you on so you can serve your time and achieve your ticket. The course prepares you for all of that. Employers now are looking for workers who have lots of skills and can do a large variety of work in industries like nuclear, oil and gas, renewables and offshore.
