Scottish Place Names SCQF 5 (Online Self-directed)

What is special about this course?

This course looks at the link between placenames, topography and history. What do the names tell us about the landscape, and about the peoples who have lived in that landscape? Do the names have meaning as we use them today, or do we have to look to another language in order to make sense of them in any way other than as labels?
