What is special about this course?
Psychology has become a popular subject with school and college candidates and the wider public who wish to further their understanding of human behaviour. The National 5 Psychology course aims to meet this demand with an introduction to the subject.
Entry requirements
Three National 4 including one literary subject.
A range of five key topics are studied within three units:
- Psychology : Individual Behaviour
- Psychology : Social Behaviour
- Psychology : Research
You will develop knowledge and understanding of topics such as sleep and dreams, personality, conformity, research and non verbal communication.
Equipment
Internet connection and a suitable device with headphones, microphone and camera (minimum spec) is required. Please email us if you have any concerns about connectivity or equipment.
How will I study my course?

- Wednesday evenings 6pm - 9pm
- Optional tutorial 5pm - 5.45pm
You will learn online through timetabled classes delivered by a lecturer in a virtual classroom on Microsoft Teams. You’ll use our virtual learning environment to access resources, complete assessments, and chat to your lecturer and classmates. You will have to attend one of our campuses or centres for SQA assessments.

Additional costs
Some of your assessments may require you to attend a college centre or other approved centre. This travel will be at your own expense but we will discuss these details with you throughout your application.
What can I do on completion of my course?
You may like to go on to study our Higher Psychology course or to consider gaining other qualifications in social studies, social sciences or related areas or to employment or further training.
