Why should I become a Local Advisory Committee member?
- Have your say – get involved and be a voice for your fellow students in shaping our college in your local community
- Help us plan and develop - provide valuable feedback on our curriculum and the student experience
- Enhance your CV - develop a range of skills to enhance your employability
How do Local Advisory Committees work?
- There are between 7 and 11 members on each board, including at least two students.
- Members are all volunteers.
- Members include former board members, members of the public with an interest in education or industry, local councillor/s, representatives of school or community groups, college staff.
- Most meetings will be held online but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed where attendance in person is deemed necessary and arranged well in advance.
To join an LAC, you must be:
- Aged 16 years or over and a current student of UHI North, West and Hebrides;
- Able to demonstrate an interest in education or industry in the geographical area covered by the LAC;
- Resident in the area covered by the LAC
- Willing to act as an ambassador for the college in your local community including representing the college at relevant local events.
