student looking after horses

On the outskirts of Halkirk, near Thurso, students train at our state-of-the-art Rural Studies Centre - the only one of its kind in the North of Scotland. It was officially opened as an Equestrian Centre in July 2013 by Her Royal Highness Princess Ann in her official capacity as Chancellor of the University of the Highlands and Islands. It is also home to our Veterinary nursing training area

In 2024, we were delighted to receive a highly commended rating through our British Horse Society (BHS) approval for areas such as coaching standards, horse care, client experience (student), tack and equipment, working practices and grassland and turnout.
